Armand continued to marry a Jewish-American princess and be a plastic surgeon with increased sq footage than any other plastic surgeon in Beverley Hills and is still a great friend.
May started her new life by becoming the manager of David Marshall's hairdressing salon in Dawson Street, Dublin, when it first opened, then by running the now-defunct Shrimps wine bar in nearby Anne's Lane. It had been the first Eighties, just before hairdressers became celebrities and when wine bars were places in foreign countries. "It was the start of the season in Ireland and Shrimps was the greatest spot. U2 and people like that were only beginning and that i was something of the rock chick about town." Shrimps became the place to see and become seen.
But ultimately the job was about nightlife, and you will only keep that up for so long. So, after a few years, May moved into outdoor catering and then pasta. She opened Pasta Fresca 15 years ago. "We didn't know what fresh pasta was until then; now isn't everybody fashioned on me?" she says archly with a flick of her mane, and never does she appear more Italian than when she's talking pasta.
"I will have Italian blood," she protests, laughing. "It's there in my father's side, long ago, however i did play on it a little after i started Pasta Fresca. My father accustomed to laugh at me."
She threw herself in to the business and says she did not have a guy in her life for many years. Then she had a few "nice affairs" before meeting,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], nine years back, another great love of her lifetime and also the father of her son, Charles. His name is Peter Bark, he's an Englishman and at time was a trader in futures and commodities, located in Germany.
"We had a great relationship but we lived in various countries and that took its toll. When he finally moved over here, it was difficult living together. There have been lots of complications, the relationship was charged with tension and passion and we're better off apart. But I found it very hard when the relationship broke down. We were living apart for 18 months before I told anyone. I guess I had this dream also it was tough to acknowledge the dream vanished. Peter is really a lovely guy, I usually the woman who gets him will benefit from my work."
Peter continues to be a big presence in May's life as well as on the day of the photograph, he and could and Charles sat right down to dinner. There was nothing amazing about the rooms when May first set eyes on the house 2 yrs ago it had been in a terrible state. "When I saw it in writing, I said, 'I'm thinking about buying this house.' But the structural engineer's report gave it the OK."
May is among the lucky few with a great relationship having a builder, and together they've gutted and rebuilt the house, saving the best bits. She didn't use an architect or perhaps an interior designer; she enjoys the work despite her heavy business commitments.
