Are Women the reason for Perpetuating Female Stereotypes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
asked me the other day for a nightclub recommendation. She was thinking about going to a club,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and had zero idea what to do. For how long did as being a lover of books mean you to be awkward round the other sex? Didn't a confidence in one's own mind dispel any form of awkwardness, as self assured confidence is wont to do? This all-too familiar logic underscored the stereotype that beautiful women were destined for life of stupidity, while "book lovers" were guaranteed a life filled with intellectual stimulation -- but little else. Who created these stereotypes?
Many women would be quick to blame men. However, I most often encounter the perpetuation of these stereotypes among other women. Perhaps it's because we're feeling envy or threatened by ladies who are different from ourselves, or seem to possess something we don't. Thus women could be cruel to one another, and create ridiculous,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], arbitrary rules of needing to be one thing or any other: You can't be beautiful AND smart. You can't be nerdy AND socially adept or without in need of a makeover. You cannot be powerful AND flirt.
Are ladies who defy these stereotypes just like mystical and mythical as mermaids and unicorns? Or could they possibly walk amongst us mortals?
Actress Natalie Portman is breathtakingly beautiful,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], having a face not just for that screen but for magazines -- and she has graduated from Harvard. She proves that the woman can think, and her thinking doesn't discount what's on her behalf face. Zelda Fitzgerald was noted for her beautiful face, and was loved and admired on her wonderfully original mind. Marilyn Monroe was suffering from her beauty -- for nobody took seriously the thinking woman inside. My late grandmother, Barbara Frum, was a brilliant woman who could terrify men and women alike together with her questions and insight; but her face was beautiful, and her demeanour always elegant. Beautiful and thinking women clearly exist; those are just a few names. And that we could play the same game listing off examples of women who defy the other stereotypes.
Women become angry if your man treats a woman as two dimensional -- that old,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "Talk to my face,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], not my chest" problem. But we constantly allow ourselves to become pegged into holes by other women. Although we are able to birthing children, carrying the weight of the family on our backs along with whatever demanding jobs we might have,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], are our egos so fragile and envy-filled that people cannot handle women who defy the "code?"
If we as women are likely to rally against men who only see us in two dimensions, then we should also rally against the women who believe it a lot more than males do. A lady who treats another woman in the same two dimensions is equally as bad as a sexist man.
As Ghandi said, an individual should be the modification they would like to see in the world. If your woman demands equality, she should be careful she is not the force holding other women back. Women must boost one another,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], not passively bicker and cut each other down, so that there is only a weak mess of scraps left for males to consider advantage of.
Just flip through a copy of Chatelaine, the most popular women's magazine in Canada by far to discover such a large amount of women are actually interested in. It's sad really. I'm a dude and so i asked my female co-workers, "Do nearly all women really believe this crap?" They nodded their heads glumly. "Do they put track of all this advertising?" Yep--in fact, it's effective! Or, they wouldn't it. I invite all female replies.
Obviously women are part of the problem. We are all part of this culture and that we subscribe to what's promoted with this culture. Women put limitations on their sex just as frequently as men. Society and planet as a whole doesn't understand or appreciate the feminine. Before feminine got its rightful devote society women will never be equal. Feminism isn't merely about women being able to do what men do just as well as men and being seen as equal to men in this regard,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], that it's easy and has been done. Feminism is one of the feminine being respected around the masculine. It is not. Feminism MUST include both men and women understanding, appreciating, and experiencing and enjoying the feminine in society. The forces have been out of balance for a long time now.
This can be a great piece. Like a man who respects and appreciates women of power, talent, beauty, etc. I'm often annoyed by ladies who appear to sabatoge themselves, and even the efforts in men around these phones break the stereotypes.
My girlfriend is gorgeous. She is additionally a sound engineer,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], not really a common female vocation, and she or he is very,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], very good at it. She also happens to have better hand-eye coordination than average (tho no curiosity about athletics) and it has the voice of an angel. Some say she should be in front of a microphone rather than a sound console. This is not just my own bias, ask any man that has seen her and her work and heard her sing and they'll let you know the same thing.
She and I often run into the conventional stereotypical problems, everyone assumes I'm the sound guy because I help her set things up (its a large system, it requires several people to set up and destroy). People presume even when she's behind the board that they is either training under me or at best that I own the apparatus. She has been carrying this out for 12 years, I have known her for 5. She developed from the small system to a large one by being good by reinvesting her earnings. It is always my pleasure to throw it within the men's faces which make those assumptions.
The women, however,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], rail on her looks making assumptions concerning her promiscuity and many types of things, and i'm always baffled for how to take care of that. She is always referring to watching what she wears in specific environments due to people's reaction. After i press for further reasoning, it is usually the women's reaction that's a problem, plus they are also those that get switched off when I or other people compliment her ability. Jealousy is definitely an evil thing, it robs society of the respect and equality it will have.
Article quote:"my acquaintance quickly assured me that they was a "book nerd" and "got weird around boys," and therefore she couldn't possibly know of a nightclub in her own city to take her friends to.
Her description of herself quickly put me off,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Since when did as being a lover of books mean one had to be awkward around the other sex?"
I discovered this article to be well silly. She based the premise her whole article on a single statement from her friend who described *HER* self as being a book nerd who got weird around boys. What exactly? Her friend was not talking about every other woman, just herself. What for? Simply because her friend is a self professed book nerd who's awkward around guys doesn't mean that other women are. That's common sense and has already been dispelled like a myth. What if her friend said she was an obsessive musician without any social skills who felt awkward inside a club? Would that have rubbed her friend the wrong manner too? Or perhaps a shy woman who felt awkward around men. Sometimes, i think people just 'look for things to get nitpicky about. To begin with, I'm a woman who has raised a daughter and sons. We live in a society that tells women that they're supposed to be "equal" yet strips them of the to their very own thoughts at each turn; and men too. Women are targeted constantly by ads about looking and behaving in a few ways and are constantly told the things they should purchase and therefore are blasted with hypocritical information. WOMEN would be the spenders from the money in this point in time and therefore are told that their value lies in their looks and what they have which the world involves them and all sorts of males are attempting to keep them down. The "war on women" is really a lie by desperate individulas attempting to remain in power. A ladies (or man's) worth should be in line with the individual, not the oh you are a women so we are likely to hand you everything mentality. Within this age males are discriminated against much more X
For just one, women and men are generally the reason for the perpetuation of the myth. Like a pubic elementary school teacher, I can tell that media is pervasive and whether you decide to surprisingly, comes with an effect that extends well after the television or computer is switched off. The nerdy girl is generally always represented like a girl with glasses (making her "ugly") and taking them off reveals a stunning beauty. Men don't want smart girls, they need loyal wives. Consider Beauty and the Beast: Belle is originally a good, "nerdy girl" who is harrassed by Gaston, who in normal male circles could be an alpha male; up against the Beast he is miniscule. If Belle is really independent and strong, and intelligent, why does she remain with an abusive partner within the Beast? That's only one specific example. Television shows, the change in dolls and action figures,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "reality shows," and the dangerous phenomenom of "Team Breezy" are also massive problems. Saying, "Oh it's just a ____" is denying the influence of these areas of media.
Segregated schools are not the solution because they are not reality. With respect, teachers who believe there aren't any cliques in class (even segregated schools) are avoiding the reality of hidden curriculums.
To overcome the envy, WOMEN need heroines to guide and to teach. We only got the vote in 1919,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], civil rights in 1965 and also the Lily Ledbetter "equal purchase equal work" in 2009. Men have been in charge for hundreds of years, women are comfy in their leadership: Like the abused spouse, they are not sure if the goodness lasts or when it'll turn. We want more women managers and training, more women supervisors, business people and COMPANY EXECS. Plus they need to be really successful. Meg Whitman out of stock, and so have other people who desire to be part of the GOOD OLE BOYS NETWORK. Brewer in AZ and Haley in SC are disasters as governors. But look at the two Barbaras in america Senate: Boxer and Mikulski, they are women whose actions make us proud. We need more women to mentor future leaders.相关的主题文章:
